Mysore is a city that is known for its heritage and hence it is known as heritage city mysore.it is situated in about 150km from banglore which is capital city of karnataka which is around 155 sq.km .It is famous for its sandalwood trees.It is a small city with low to moderate traffic and it is paradise for people who want calm and peacefull life.

Places to visit mysore in one day

Mysore is the city of silk and sandalwood.Although it is not a big city it has a lot of places to cover. one must visit place is the chamundi hills located 8km from the city of mysore. If one wants to admire royalty then mysore palace is the place, if one visits in the evening then one can notice lights in the palace that looks like a golden crown of mysore city.
Another must visit place is karanji lake which has a beautiful aviary and it is the largest walkthrough aviary in india. Krishnaraja sagara dam , known as krs which is built on river cauvery is not a place to be missed.It was built around 1932 and one must admire the architecure of the dam and the main architect was M Vishvesvaraya who was chief engineer of mysore. If ther are any animal lovers then mysore zoo is the place for a perfect hangout spot , it has various species including reptiles,aligator ,snakes,birds and mammals.
.The best part is to visit mysore in the time of dasara festival where one can admire the Jambu savari where the elephant carries 700 kilograms golden carriage with goddess chamundeshwari inside the carriage and the whole city will be decorated with lights.Many visits just to admire the beauty of lightings,also there will be lots of events that takes place during dasara.one such event is yuvadasara which takes place in maharaja ground which is located at the centre of the city for a week.Other than that there are lots of museums to visit, like sand museum, wax museum and railway museum. If one wants to explore places near mysore then srirangapatna,nanjangudu,karigatta,nimishamba is a must visit places.
srirangapatna is called historical city as there are lots of temples which is more than 1000 years of old and till today maintains its culture and value. Theses places are about 20 km from mysore city and can be covered in a day.
If one plans for more than a day then there are some must visit places which is around 120 km from mysore. few such places are ooty , coorg and wayanad.
